Lincoln, the great unifier?

For some reason I've never liked the abbreviation LOL, which I think means Laugh out Loud. But I was just listening to the radio and heard the top of the hour news report.

It was reported that President Obama said Lincoln was a great unifier today in a speech; or something to that effect. This actually made me LOL. I've said often that the meaning of words are being changed and I suppose this is an example.

This is scary when you think about it though because if these pictures are any indications of unity, then we all should pray hard for less of it!

Well, I was wondering if you were ever going to post again. I'm not exactly sure what you are trying to say though. Can you expound? I know you can.

But will he?

Ok, I understand now. I kinda thought that was what you meant but needed a little clarification. Thanks

Hundreds of thousands of men died fighting in the civil war. These photos are of men who died in the battle of Antietam. The bottom line is that Lincoln did not unify the country but rather presided over a great and deadly war. In light of that, to say that Lincoln was a great unifier boggles the mind.

Don't get me wrong, I think Lincoln was perhaps the greatest president this country has ever known. One of the many differences between Lincoln and Obama is that Lincoln actually achieved that distinction; and he did it in spite of a caustic and hostile press, as opposed to the worshipful and starstruck press that our current leader enjoys before he's done diddly squat.

It's about time. And I hate 'LOL' too. Stinkin' text talk.

Sorry, got hung up on the lol...

Also, Abe went after his opponents with great vengence including suspending the Writ of Habeas Corpus. Don't be surprised if "the One" doesn't do the same once the severity of his "change" becomes apparent to the sheeple.
