Love

This word Love is a word like hate and racist that has morphed. The word love here is translated from the Greek word agape. Agape is a far cry from the modern understanding of the word Love. In the modern vanacular, the word love really means "I love myself too much to subject myself to the discomfort of discussing sin".

Danny, I realize this post is over a year old, but I followed the links from your latest post and had these thoughts:

Our culture has abandoned love in favor of tolerance. By tolerance I don’t mean the old definition of respecting someone’s right to express his or her opinion, but the modern definition of holding all ideas and opinions as equally valid and/or possibly true. To achieve this sort of tolerance, one must disregard truth. Tolerance wins nodding approval; a tolerant person is seen as “open-minded” rather than “rigid”. Tolerance doesn’t risk getting anyone upset. Contrast that with the following:

“Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.”
I Cor 13:6

“Speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, even Christ.”
Eph 4:15
